If you are an Indian, you perhaps have heard or read many such messages. Most of the Indians are sad about our National team being so pathetic and have always complained about Indian Football letting us down. But it is now time to ask ourselves, "Is it Indian football which let us down or WE who let Indian football down?"
Many among us spend our weekend evenings glued to EPL action and chat about Chelsea, Arsenal or ManU being or not being at the top of the table. But when it comes to our own nation's Football, little are we aware about what is happening.
Yes, i know that you have a ready made answer called "Quality" for this question. And you support your answer with the statistics connecting India's FIFA Rankings and all...
I was watching AFF Suzuki Cup recently and the participating nations were Malaysia, Philliphines, Laos etc, many of whose rankings are lower than us. And yet the stadiums are Full!
The support is full-fledged. People are crowding in just to see their nation play the beautiful game, however low their rankings maybe..
So, to all of you who are reading this, I ask yet another simple question
Forget the statistics, the rankings, the quality. Have you ever felt a curiosity to see your nation play football? just once? If yes, don't hesitate. Get the ticket and fill the stadium next time our team takes the field. Or at least, switch on your TV sets and support the Bhangra boys..
That is the first step of the solutions to our big set of problems...
